YES. I would have been fine with this as a multi-platform, but quality exclusives are always welcome on the Wii in my book.

Awesome. Looking forward to hearing more about it.
Who'd a thunk a Wii exclusive on the cover of GameInformer. I guess anything is possible.

That art looks AMAZING!!
Am I the only one who's always wanted a Mario game that looked like that?
Hell, Kid Icarus would do!

Was excited the moment I saw it posted on GAF a few hours ago. pretty hyped for this game, hopefully it plays and looks as good as we hope

Great.. And how about that image.. Pretty cool.
Loving that style and that is not silly faced Mickey.. well, at least not from behind.

Why are people excited about this and saying they will pick it up when we know nothing about this title. It's Mickey, a Wii exclusive, and it'll be epic...so what! That doesn't always equal a good game. I'm waiting to see what all the hype is about.
October 5, 2009 at 10:08 am
They should rename it "Mickey's Edge" and join forces with EA against that douche
October 5, 2009 at 10:11 am
Some of the responses being so excited that it's exclusive are depressing me.
I mean, I'm happy it's coming to a platform that I own. But exclusive games are really only valuable as a reason to own that system, and the Wii already has plenty of reasons to own it.

Spector and Mickey ftw!
I don't trust Disney and the Wii, but the art is amazing. Hoping for the best.

I was about to badmouth just because of the association of Disney with childishness and the last 'Mickey' game I was forced to play was my sister's choice of renting Magical Mirror starring Mickey Mouse...
Then again, Disney does have Pirate of the Caribbean, and then I looked at the artwork.
And it is astounding. I still doubt it will be a day one purchase for me, but I'm most definitely intrigued.

He is holding a paint brush..
Now my mind wonders even more... is it a 2D, 3D platfomer? or something ala Zack and Wiki?

I was wondering the same thing. People are excited over a piece of concept art...why? How about at least waiting until we know what the game is about before the ravenous fanboy drooling begins.

Since when is so wrong or impossible to get excited overe a picture or an image of something?
I can agree about saying "day one!!" without knowing the out come of the title, but if intended an image can say things about this game.. Like I said before Mickey is holding a paint brush, so right there you can speculate about the uses of it and the ways players will interact with the game.
Okami came to mind when I saw it and I think is reason enough to get excited.

I just hope it's at least as good as Castle of Illusion.
Exclusivity is good in the sense that there's a chance it will make good use of the hardware.

That's what I'm talking about!
Glad it's a Wii exclusive, we needed a new announcement lately.
Finally, looks like a decent Disney game, minus Kingdom Hearts! I hope they won't overdo it, and even more, I hope gameplay will justifie its existance. I mean, fine, it looks unique, but I'm really hopying it will be good as well!
Time will show, but what the hell? It looks awesome!

Warren Spector and Art Min, 4 years in the making (if they reutilized concepts from their previous game).
@WesFX
Multiplatforms are almost ALWAYS much, much downgraded on Wii, with s*** visuals, bad gameplay and lacking features. The only games I can think of that avoid this are SWFU and Pro Evo (both that looks like okay PS2 titles with added effects, but are much more enjoyable to play than the other versions).
Such a big title being an exclusive means quality all over it. This is by far the first big profile Western Wii game (simply not ww because of MH3 in Japan), and that is certainly a matter to joy. The art is awesome and high profile devs are involved, which only builds more excitement.

It's only Wii exclusive until you little 'tards actually don't buy a copy!
And you would've think that being Mickey, they would've at least finally offered Game Informer a cover that doesn't feature depressing colors, lol.

Why not get excited? Life is more enjoyable when you your not always cynical about things.
If this game is worth the hype, then I'm very happy it's a Wii exclusive. It definitely seems like it'll have triple A quality and presentation, and the Wii lacks high quality, big budget exclusives from 3rd parties.
I can't wait to see and hear more and I have high hopes since this game has had a long production cycle.

Finally a Wii title I am excited about! I hope this game is fantastic. The art looks wonderful. You guys better buy it after gasming about it like you do with any Wii exclusive. Screw The Conduit. This is actually something unique and interesting.
Let's just hope the art holds up when it comes time to show gameplay and screens.

So I guess Mickey will use that brush to dust off all those underused Wiis out there.
Now that quota is met. I can't wait to see what Warren Spector thought up for this. The fact that it is about Mickey doesn't even come close to my excitement about it being a Spector project.

"Why not get excited?"
Because that leads to hype, which leads to unrealistic expectations, which then leads to massive disappointment and having to hear people ranting online.

I know that it is a reason to have the hardware, and there are other reasons to have a Wii: I see your point. But on Wii having it be exclusive, as @Raaa says, means it is more likely to be making good use of the hardware and not be a rushed and crippled port job. Plus, other people who don't yet have a Wii obviously still don't have enough reasons to have one, and each quality exclusive helps to provide those reasons.
@Inneverate
This isn't the first picture that we've seen from it, we've seen other pieces of concept art that show it is dark and creepy and surreal, and this solidifies that. I'm just excited because it looks cool. I am definitely going to get any Wii game that looks cool... I have been for a long time. Not all of them are masterworks, but making a quality Wii game that looks cool is going to get my purchase no matter what, I might as well get excited for one that has a cool dark tone that I can appreciate.
I agree though- hearing people rant and whine sucks: but there's no way to even try to quash and quell the instances of it happening so might as well just let it happening. Trying to prevent it just causes more of it.

@WiiLikeSportz
The people that don't have a Wii at this point are either non-gamers (and some of them might buy one at some point) or gamers, who have just decided they don't want a Wii. Realistically, you shouldn't expect any game to sway the gamers that don't have one yet at this point in the system's life.

Why do I get the feeling that the "Gamecube" syndrome is rearing its (sorta) ugly head again? I personally think that the Wii, in its current form, is in the last leg of its journey and that some new hardware is coming within the next year or two. That being said, it really seems that some very stellar looking games are showing up a bit later than they should've been. If stuff like this was out within the first year of the Wii's life cycle, when the shovelware stuff was really starting to populate the system, this could've swayed many many people.

This art gives me the chills in a very good way. Yes, I haven't even seen footage of the game, but I'm still excited!

It's like an even darker KH [just going off the art]. And I know some on here hate this mentality but... I actually happen to have a good track record with knowing what games I'll like and sooo - this is definitely a day one!
The ink splatters coming from Mickey himself are intriguing too...
Oh, and [optional] WM+ support for the brush anyone?

That's the "It's A Small World" ride in the background too. I also recognize Chernobog's ghosts from Fantasia.
But I'm trying to figure out what the third location is to the right. Malificent? The Horned King?

@Chosenoneknuckles
I don't think I clarified well enough on that. I meant the other castle. I don't know who that demon is.
The witch and horse ghosts look like the spirits from Chernobog's summonings, which would make sense.
I've seen other artwork with a broken Spaceship Earth and Tower of Terror.
And I do see a rabbit by the gate of the Haunted Mansion. As someone else pointed out: Oswald?
If they twist the cartoons AND the theme park rides, what an awesome concept.
I think the graphics would look good on the Wii. It's at least a little more powerful than a PS2, and the Kingdom Hearts games were beautiful on that.

Ah, okie dokes. Well, other than Oogie Boogie, I'm drawing a blank.
I only started my Disney exposure in the early 90s and haven't seen afew years worth of their newest film efforts now [the big shift to 3D methinks turned me off somewhat, especially since that was Pixar's field], so I'm not that versed in the entirety of Disney's history.
The Kingdom Hearts series is my only big exposure post 2000 really.
And this new '3D' thing with games and films is already looking like useless and expensive crap too...

I would have been on the bandwagon with you, but I watched the two Toy Story films in theaters this weekend, and while it wasn't "in your face" 3D, it does give a nice sense of depth to a room, and some of the things going on.
I've looked past on the old stuff past my age. Some of the early Disney stuff was REALLY twisted. Pinocchio's donkey transformation scene is creepy as everything, among other examples.

Fair enough man, I must just be an 'old soul' after all, cos I'm only just getting used to HD [not to mention the game industry's, imo, silly goal of photorealism]. I've never even used the silly 3D glasses of the 90s, I put my hands up to my unfounded cynicism!
As for the old stuff, pretty much all cartoon based media was more openly twisted methinks, but now it's all goodie-gumdrops in the west [and any 'darker' stuff is either not present or very, very subtle]. Psh. As if kids are that dumb these days.
Japan have an unhealthy obsession with dressing schoolgirls in the shortest skirts imaginable and other questionable things, but at least they touch on the more twisted, interesting and 'grey' areas of the intellectual medium.
But alias, my animé fanboy may be showing.

I don't think so. "Knuckles" was giving some decent conversation and feedback. He's just not familiar with the "old stuff". Cut him some slack.
You know, Disney releases all Hayao Miyazaki films in the States, right? So Disney does anime as well.

OMG, the art is so freaking awesome. I hope the game is good because the concept art alone IS awesome. I think it's going to be a 2D Platformer.

I'm genuinely excited for this. Not over-hyped because all we've seen is some art, but being a Wii exclusive and having an awesome style are definitely steps in the right direction.

Agreed, except I got interested in Punch-Out due to the style. And... uhh.. A Boy and His Blob has some beautiful art/lighting.
@thedreadpirateguy
Man, I LOVED seeing Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D on Friday with my girlfriend. lol. The first one showed it's age and a little awkwardness in 3D (to me, anyway, but the age kinda wore off and depth got better as I adjusted. It's been a long time since I'd seen the movie anyway). Toy Story 2 looked ehffing amazing though, in 3D.
I also saw Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs the weekend before. Not Disney, but I thought it was a great movie, but I really kinda forgot it was in 3D while watching most of the time...
@topic:
I'm so excited it's not funny. I'm not the hugest of Disney fans, but I am definitely a fan, and a huge fan of nostalgia. That's mostly why I like the Kingdom Hearts titles.
I'm partially a 90's kid, due to the fact I was born in 1987, but I still know a lot about older Disney things.
It also helps, that my girlfriend LOVES Disney. But not in the stereotypical way of "OH MAN, I JUST LOVE THE PRINCESSES". She's gone to Disney in Florida, I think almost every year, since she was little, so she knows like, all of the rides and has magazines with the rides they used to have, have now, will have and the changes they've gone through, as well as Disney in Japan, I think.
And yeah, she loves the princesses and stuff, but it's not secluded to them.
She actually pointed out, on all the artwork we've seen so far, what all the rides are, and all the buildings and all the characters from rides that aren't normal characters.
I'm excited. I can't wait to see screenshots, and I hope the music is awesome. I'm excited for that too.
I really hope it's orchestrated.
Agreed, except I got interested in Punch-Out due to the style. And... uhh.. A Boy and His Blob has some beautiful art/lighting.

I'm so excited it's not funny. I'm not the hugest of Disney fans, but I am definitely a fan, and a huge fan of nostalgia. That's mostly why I like the Kingdom Hearts titles.
