Heroes and Heroines, Apples and Oranges

I think most of us are willing to admit that guys and gals in video games aren't exactly on the same level. There aren't many female leads in games that are strong characters that don't romp around in skimpy outfits. While the industry still struggles with equality in character portrayals, is there any hope of things eventually becoming a little more even?
