LOS ANGELES, CA., November 27, 2019 – In this week's Arc of the Alchemist™ update, we have a new Base screenshot batch + website update!
The desert-filled RPG Arc of Alchemist will be heading to North America on January 30, 2020 and Europe on January 31, 2020 for the PlayStation®4 and Nintendo Switch™.
The North American version will release digitally for both the Nintendo Switch™ and PlayStation®4. The European version will release digitally for the Nintendo Switch, and the PS4 version will have a physical and digital release.
The North American and European releases for the Nintendo Switch and PS4 include updated system features and the ability to choose and play between 7+ possible characters.
Build a Foundation: Use the Base to prepare for the long journey ahead of you. Set party formations, train, construct buildings, and heal.
Expand and Conquer: Select from a wide range of facilities to help strengthen your party members. For example, create a Maintenance of Weapons Facility to unlock powerful weapons for battle!
Set Your Squad's Formation: Strategize on how you want to lead your party by changing their tactics. By default, your squad is set to "Free Will" where they will fight and/or defend as needed. However, you can customize their AI commands to attack the same target you're hitting or even have them play more passively. Players can also equip specific item sets that specialize in things like farming for materials or battling tough enemies.
Buy, Sell, Swap: Players will need to buy new items as they progress through the Desert of Beginnings and failing to do so will have major consequences. As you explore, players will also amass a plethora of items that can be sold for currency. Grab all the items you can, as you will need to upgrade a variety of things with money, including the expansion of your base, attaining stronger weapons, and boosting specific stats for each character.
Train and Win: Training is a vital feature where all the playable characters can learn new skills and upgrade them. Learning and upgrading skills will also cost in-game currency, so check your balance before spending!
Enter the desert in search of the key to save humanity – the Great Power. One year, the king declared that he would send a large-scale investigation team to the Desert of Beginnings.
Chosen to captain this mission, Quinn Bravesford leads her soldiers into battle against a swath of enemy nations for the sake of her kingdom. Quinn gazes at the ancient alchemic device, the Lunagear, within her hand. According to the legends of yore, once the Lunagear is equipped with the four Orbs, it will unlock the Great Power that will save humanity. Only one Orb resides in Quinn's Lunagear. Collecting the four Orbs for the Lunagear, however, is a mere legend.
With the threat of dangerous creatures and Machine Dolls wandering the desert, one of the enemy nations, the Principality of Neuhaven, has dispatched their military in search of the Great Power. Now, Quinn and her band of allies must fight against the Principality of Neuhaven in hopes to find the Great Power and save humanity. Quinn steels herself, but even so, she can't help but doubt the existence of the Great Power…
Newly Polished and Ready for Battle – In the Western release, players can explore the Desert of Beginnings with updated system UIs and new base facilities for better character leveling. With this update, players can now choose from 7+ playable characters, each specializing in unique weapons, attacks, and abilities!
Four Orbs to Rule Them All – Wielding the Lunagear allows players to combine two of the four elemental Orbs: Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind. Use the Lunagear to combine the elements and manipulate organic and mechanical environments to open new pathways and reach new heights, and even combine two Orbs to create special effects!
Build a Strong Base and Conquer – The Base is an oasis for the party to relax and reconfigure themselves for the next fight. Strategize the next plan of attack by customizing troop formations and setting each character’s battle tactics. Swap Orbs in your Lunagear to find a combination best suited for your next adventure. Swap, upgrade, and alter each character’s equipment tailored to your playing style. Assign active and passive abilities, boost character stats, and build facilities that will help improve your party’s makeup!
Amass Items and Exchange – Around every sand dune lies a multitude of treasures. Seek out items that can be used to equip and strengthen your party or exchange materials goods to alter a weapon’s appearance. Some weapons can only be forged with special materials, so be wary of what you sell!
TACOMA, WA (December 11, 2019) – Starlight Children’s Foundation, the organization dedicated to delivering happiness to seriously ill children and their families, and Nintendo of America today announced the newest addition to the nonprofit’s popular Starlight Gaming program: the Starlight Nintendo Switch gaming station. The new gaming station was unveiled today at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, Washington, where patients joined kids and families from the community for an event celebrating the 27-year partnership between Starlight and Nintendo of America.
“We’re incredibly excited to unveil the new Starlight Nintendo Switch gaming station and celebrate our 27-year partnership with Nintendo of America,” said Adam Garone, CEO, Starlight. “Over the years, Starlight Gaming stations have provided millions of seriously ill children with the healing power of play, entertainment, socialization, and emotional support, and have helped to normalize an otherwise scary situation or setting for families. We’re so grateful to Nintendo and their employees for such a long and continuing partnership fueled by innovation, impact, and generous support.”
“It’s been our pleasure to work with Starlight and observe them bringing happiness to kids when they need it the most,” said Don James, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Operations. “As with everything we do, we hope the new Starlight Nintendo Switch gaming stations will put smiles on the faces of children and their families.”
The new Starlight Gaming station features the popular Nintendo Switch system and is specially designed and manufactured by Nintendo of America for use in a hospital setting. The device can be completely cleaned with disinfectant to meet a hospital’s strict safety infection protocols and includes a mounted playback monitor that can roll anywhere in a hospital so children can enjoy some of their favorite Nintendo video games from the comfort of their own hospital beds or in a playroom with a group of other children.
Doctors, nurses, clinicians, and child life specialists are able to use a single Starlight Gaming station in a variety of settings, from entertaining children during a relative’s visit to the emergency room, to distracting kids during an otherwise painful medical treatment, to giving kids something fun to do during long periods of isolation or with a group of other kids, or helping them to relax and feel comfortable when communicating with caregivers about their diagnosis.
“The gaming stations are important distraction tools that normalize the health care environment and help kids through difficult experiences,” said Julie Hertzog, CCLS, child life supervisor at Mary Bridge. “They provide choices for kids, motivate them, and give them the opportunity to have fun when it is needed most.”
Since launching the partnership in 1992, Starlight and Nintendo of America have delivered more than 7,200 Starlight Gaming stations to hundreds of hospitals across North America bringing smiles to an estimated 11.6 million seriously ill children. Previous versions of the Starlight Gaming program include the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube, Wii, and Wii U systems.
Every year, charitable donations from individuals and corporations fund the delivery of approximately 300 Starlight Gaming stations to Starlight’s network of more than 800 children’s hospitals and other health care facilities. The Witcher hits Netflix in just over a week, and while hype is high, there's still so much we don't know. Many fans want to get a better look at the many monsters the series is known for, and in an interview with showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, we find out that there will be plenty of scary creatures to look forward to. That includes some new ones as well.
"It's funny, 'cause monsters are huge in The Witcher, but it's actually one of the things that we're trying to hold out of the teasers and trailers as much as possible, because we think there's a great element of surprise for existing fans who don't know what stories we're playing with and what monsters we're playing with. And also, there's a couple of new monsters that we've come up with based on a lot of sort of Polish folklore."
Executive producer Tomek Bagiński followed up on that statement by saying, "I'm really hoping that people will be very surprised with some of our choices."
Looks like things are going really well for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie. The movie was originally slated to release on March 5th, 2021, but Warner Bros. has now confirmed an earlier launch of Jan. 15th, 2021. No reason was given for the bump up in release, but I don't think fans will be complaining!
NekoMiko developer Qureate announced Prison Princess earlier today, a game that they're called a “new sensation escape adventure game with beautiful girls, puzzle solving, and a bit of eroticism.” We originally posted about the game's launch date (January 30, 2020 in Japan for 1,800 yen), but now we have details on what the game is actually about. Check out the info round-up below.
- produced by Yuujirou Usuda
- features character designs by Ai Akasa and Inui Waon
Arisa (voiced by Mao Amatsuka) – Princess of the Aria Lara Kingdom. Since she led a sheltered life growing up, she has seen little in the ways of the world. Although mild-mannered, she has a passionate desire for world peace. And while spontaneous, she is intelligent and well-versed in magic. Occasionally, she surprises those around her with her sound and to-the-point statements.
Zena (voiced by Fumiko Uchimura) – Princess of the Zanji Tzard Kingdom. She is a typical tsundere with a big ego and inability to be straight with people. Since she is fears no one and never holds back, she tends to be abusive towards and quip at the hero. Her ability with a sword is first-class.
- set in the Meigard continent, where there was a long run of peace and prosperity until the Demon King suddenly appeared
- as town after town was invaded, a descendant of the ancient hero stood up to oppose the Demon King
- this ancient hero was killed during his journey
- while now only a spirit, the hero made his way to rescue the captive princesses
- as the hero has no physical body, he cannot explore on his own
- he must guide the princesses through the castle to solve its puzzles
- by investigating suspicious locations, the princesses can obtain items and escape hints
- using those hints, players can solve various puzzles to guide the princesses to their escape
- many, life-endangering challenges will block the princess’ path
- some puzzles have time limits
- while touching is described as “strictly prohibited,” touching the princesses will trigger various reactions
- the developer suggests not worrying too much about the princess’ frequent fan service displays, as the player’s actions in this case may effect the outcome of the princesses and hero

Because of his success in the events at St. Theresia Academy, Kisaragi Shuuji (Shield 9) has obtained a firm position within Aegis. That is, as the one in charge of “Crossdress Infiltration.” Since the previous events he has successfully completed several more assignments, and currently considers stepping down from the position. Unfortunately for him however, he has been tasked with just 1 more assignment. This time, his task involves another all-girls school similar to St. Theresia Academy. He has to run in the elections for student council president and success in obtaining the position.
Shuuji himself considers the operation to be impossible. To infiltrate the school alone, and run in the elections that take place within just 2 months from now? There’s no way that he can do it. Especially since apparently there are many dangers involved with the run for student council president. And who knows what other traps lurk within the shadows of the Academy? Will he manage to find his way through?

I think the real shocker here is Zelda taking the lead above all other characters for the year. I'm not quite sure what caused that! Perhaps it was the Breath of the Wild 2 reveal trailer? Whatever the reason, plenty of game fans clearly have their eyes on Zelda.
