REVIEW: Spidersaurs is a test of patience, not skill
Humor? Check. Style? Check. Hype? Well...
Run n’ guns aren’t a dying genre, but they certainly don’t appeal to the widest crowd nowadays. Enter Wayforward with their latest attempt at the genre, Spidersaurs. Originally released in 2019 for Apple Arcade/iOS, this stylish take on 90’s run n’ guns tries its best to emulate feelings of old, but it unfortunately brought some of the baggage with it.
While overall a decent experience, Spirdersaurs did very little to impress. Honestly, I believe this is a fault of the game’s level design. I was worried my feelings were due to my unfamiliarity with the genre as a whole, so I enlisted the help of a friend to play through the game as well. This friend is not only somewhat of an expert in run n’ guns, but challenging platformers from Contra to Mega Man and beyond. I wanted to measure my own experience and thoughts on Spidersaurs with theirs to see if perhaps I was missing something.
GameInformer interviewed about playtime with Sonic Frontiers
Hype Guy - Fadel scores some new Sonic details
Sonic Frontiers continues to impress with every new showing and the details about the title’s intricacies keep coming from various interviews. That trend doesn’t seem to be stopping as content creator Fadel scored an interview with GameInformer’s own Brian Shea about his playtime with Sonic Frontiers!
Tons of details such as the game having a progress-hindering fog that slowly goes away as you play more, the Cyberspace levels having traditional ranks, and Amy regaining more memories and abilities as Sonic completes more side missions involving the rosy rascal. Check out the full interview for much more as there’s over an hour to listen to!
DidYouKnowGaming covers cut Wind Waker content
Sail towards hype with a lot interesting cut content!
Did you know… The instrument originally intended for the game was a Russian instrument called a Theremin? The video covers a lot of interesting cut content for this beloved classic. Wind Waker was even planned to be a much harder experience, Miyamoto thinking it was a bug at first.
DidYouKnowGaming has been covering a lot of unique and special information as of late including hunting down old interviews that mention an initial idea to once again do an “alternate world” idea like A Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time. Check out the full video for more!
Fall Guys hits 20 Million Players after going Free-To-Play!
20 Million Hype Little Beans!
After years of anticipation, it seems plenty of people are running for the crown in Fall Guys. Twenty million players is no easy feat, even for free-to-play games! Fall Guys originally launched on PlayStation in August 2020 where it found some decent success because of its launch being part of Sony’s PlayStation Plus offering. But now it’s on all platforms, with crossplay, AND free-to-play!
Have you checked out Fall Guys yet? Now that its available for free you may as well give it a go. It’s a cute competitive 3D platformer game. If you’re one of those twenty million beans running and jumping then shoutouts to you for making it a success for the developers!
RUMOR: Nintendo's upcoming Direct will be a Partner Showcase
Some may not be as hype about it but it's something!
Not everyone was a fan of the Partner Showcases. Understandable since they didn’t exactly contain any earth-shattering announcements but we did get some cool things like Shin Megami Tensei 5 shown off after years of silence. But I digress, from the folks over at VGC who cite the Spanish game magazine editor from one of his Twitch streams on Friday that he’s been told to expect new announcements from major publishers. He has some interesting specifics to say…
Unreleased NES/FMC Game Found - The Fairyland Story
Nothing is more hype than unreleased media coming to light!
Originally released in the arcades in 1985 - today we have now found out a once lost port of the game The Fairyland Story for the NES and Famicom! This is brought to us by the folks over at Hard4Games and Forest of Illusion. Before today we had not even known this port existed so this is quite the find! The port was seemingly planned for a release sometime in 1986 or 1987 but outside of a brief mention in a Japanese magazine, the port never happened.
There’s plenty of differences from the arcade original including level design and enemy layouts. One interesting distinction is that the FMC port is only 50 levels instead of the original 101 and those 50 levels loop infinitely. There’s tons of more details in the video so be sure to check it out below!
Peach, Jack Black, Gundam, & more listed in Fortnite Survey
This is quite the hype selection but lower your expectations
This is an interesting turn of events. A survey from Epic Games has released and many characters, properties, bands, and more are listed! We have Peach from Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, and even Banjo & Kazooie to list a few Nintendo relevant ones. But there’s even more whacky choices if you check out the full list below!
Dragon Quest Treasures teaser released with more news coming June 2022
You know what the real treasure is? It's hype.
Dragon Quest Treasures - a spin off to the recently released Dragon Quest 11 and staring the characters Erik and Mia, got a new teaser from Square Enix! Not much info is shown but the game is confirmed to be a single player RPG and more concrete info is coming next month, June 2022.
We also don’t have official confirmation on what platforms the title will release on but it’s hard to imagine that after the success of Dragon Quest 11S, Switch owners wouldn’t get a spin off based on it… Right, Square Enix? Regardless, fans of Dragon Quest have something to look forward to so stay tuned!
Out of bounds area in Breath of the Wild is fully explorable
It's certainly always hype to see even more secrets in BotW!
Breath of the Wild is certainly the game that keeps on giving. Even 5 years, 2 months, and 23 days after release we’re still discovering new things about it. There’s a special area in the out of bounds that actually has collision, letting you explore freely.
Be careful if you’re able to pull this off though because while you’re free to use things like horses or the Master Cycle, enemies still spawn here. It may be an incredibly distant place from the main behemoth that is Hyrule but that doesn’t mean it’s Calamity-free!

Capcom Fighting Collection producer doesn't believe the package will lead to franchise revivals
It may not be EVO Moment #37 hype but it's still great!
Capcom Fighting Collection was certainly a surprise to many but a welcome one to be sure. From iconic cult classics like Darkstalkers to more obscure ones like Red Earth, it’s an awesome package. Well in an interview with GameInformer, it seems that this collection was made with a real desire to have fans both old and new try out these classic fighters. That said, it may not bring about franchise revivals.
