Nintendo finds its footing for the holidays!
Famitsu has released its estimated weekly sales charts for physical game software sales in Japan. This week’s list sees Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet capturing first place for the fifth week in a row, Splatoon 3 fighting its way back up to second place, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe grabbing the bronze in third place, and much more.
Nintendo Switch games overall took all ten of the top ten spots, and 28 of the top 30 compared to their 25 slots last week.

Fire Emblem Heroes 'Gods Renewed' trailer details new Special Heroes event
New Heroes to ring in the New Year!
Nintendo Mobile has released a new trailer for Fire Emblem Heroes’ upcoming Special Heroes release. The trailer can be seen above, and it features a whole host of new Heroes ready to ring in the new year. The trailer can be seen above, and it features artwork, voice actor information, and gameplay for each of the new Heroes.
The Heroes detailed are:
- Ash: Earnest Greetings
- Elm: Resolute Grouch
- Panne: Welcoming Dawn
- Askr: Renewed Gods
The event will run from December 31st, 2022 through January 31st, 2023. The heroes outlined above will be available, with Panne: Welcoming Dawn included in the 4-star focus.
Alongside the release of these Heroes, a new Paralogue story will also be available for players to participate in and discover.

Get ready to soar back into the action!
Way back in July of 2022, the development team at M2 and publishers at Taito announced Ray’z Arcade Chronology would be heading to Switch. At the time, details were a bit sparse, and we’ve been waiting for word ever since.
Today, the team has even more to show us! This information comes in the form of a brand-new trailer, which you can check out above. The trailer shows off gameplay from each game included in the collection, detailing their remastered graphics and gameplay elements.
The collection is now slated to launch in Japan on March 9th, 2023, with a window of Spring 2023 for the North American and European launches. It will include RayForce (1994), RayStorm (1996), RayStorm NEO-HD (2023), RayCrisis (1998), and RayCrisis HD (2023).
In addition to the gameplay, we also got to see some neat bonuses that will come with some physical releases over in Japan. An image of these bonuses can be seen below!
'Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak' producer Ryozo Tsujimoto thanks players, confirms plans for "several free title updates" in 2023
A special holiday message from the man himself!
A new video from Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto has been released on the Monster Hunter Information_EN Twitter account. The video is fairly short, running just under a minute in length, but it has some neat information on the future of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
Specifically, Tsujimoto confirms that “several free title updates” will be heading to the game, whose Sunbreak expansion launched in June 2022. The content of these free updates is not currently known, but more information will come in the future.
Along with this information, Tsujimoto extended a message of appreciation to the game’s players along with well wishes for the holiday season. He also laid out several new platforms that the game will be heading to in the new year.

'Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate' surpasses 500,000 sales across physical and digital releases
A statistic 10 years in the making!
Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate has seen a myriad of releases over the years, from its original launch on Nintendo DS back in December 2010 all the way to its Nintendo Switch port in December 2020, with the game even receiving a mobile release in March of 2022.
Spike Chunsoft, the Japanese publisher of the game, has announced that the title has received over 500,000 total sales across its lifetime. This number covers all releases of the game, including both physical and digital releases across all platforms.
Along with this announcement, Spike Chunsoft has revealed that the Nintendo Switch, Steam, and mobile versions of the title will be available for up to 50% off for a limited time!
This sale will run on the Nintendo eShop from December 24th, 2022 until January 9th, 2023. If you’ve never played the game before, this is a good chance to see what it’s all about.
'Ninjala' anime airs 50th episode, now available to view on YouTube for a limited time
Coming up on the show's 1-year anniversary!
Ninjala first hit Nintendo Switch way back in June of 2020, and since then the game has grown a close following. Along with the game itself continuing into its 11th season back in September, the franchise has also received an anime adaptation that has seen weekly episode releases.
The series began airing on January 8th, 2022, and we’re coming up on the one-year anniversary. This week, the anime reached its 50-episode milestone.
Just like every episode of the series, the newest one is now available to view on Youtube for a limited time. This one is titled “The Shadow Ninjas Strike Back.”

Burton, Berecca, Van, and Emma fought off the Shadow and Space Ninjas and successfully defended the meteorite. Nintendo Mobile has released a new trailer for Fire Emblem Heroes’ upcoming Special Heroes release. The trailer can be seen above, and it features Cordelia from Fire Emblem: Awakening and Selena from Fire Emblem: Fates chatting about the winter festival, which is a major theme in several upcoming events for the game.
The event will run from December 16th, 2022 through January 16th, 2023. Cordelia: SUnyielding Snow will be featured along with Annette: Festive Helper available as part of the 4 Star focus.

Famitsu has released its estimated weekly sales charts for physical game software sales in Japan. This week’s list sees Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet capturing first place for the fourth week in a row, Dragon Quest Treasures uncovering a second-place launch week, Splatoon 3 splashing into third place for the first time, and much more.
The recently-released Pokémon titles, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, have now passed the total sales of Splatoon 3, the title which held an 11-week streak on top prior to Pokémon’s launch on November 18th.
Nintendo Switch games overall took nine of the top ten spots, and 25 of the top 30 compared to their 24 slots last week.

Mario Kart 7 updated to Version 1.2, patch notes shared
Yes, you read that right
Nintendo has released an update for Mario Kart 7, making it the game’s first update in over 10 years. This update brings the game to version 1.2, with the previous version 1.1 releasing on May 15th, 2012.
Players will need to update the title if they want to use the game’s online multiplayer functionality, and all players must use the same version to play together.

Rocket League's 'Frosty Fest' winter event returns December 14th, 2022
Lofi beats to chill and score goals to
Rocket League hosts plenty of in-game events, and some of the most anticipated are the seasonal events. The game’s newest event will ring in the season by bringing back the winter-themed “Frosty Fest” event. This year, the festivities kick off on December 14th, 2022 and run until January 3rd, 2023.
“Frosty Fest” will not only bring new seasonal cosmetics to the game, but also a variety of fun new modes, challenges, and more for players to participate in.
In the spotlight is the “Lofi Bundle” featuring the Lofi Girl of Lo-fi Hip Hop Study Mix fame. You might recognize her more from her image, which can be seen in the image below which details the Lofi Bundle.

'Colossal Cave' gets release date trailer, heads to Switch January 19, 2023
Grab your flashlight and your good boots!
Cygnus Entertainment has released a short new trailer for Colossal Cave, a reimagining of 1975’s Colossal Cave Adventure, a text-based adventure game. The new title is set to release for Nintendo Switch on January 19th, 2023.
This release is a fully 3D experience and will bring the Colossal Cave world to the modern era. Players will explore a vast, open cave and seek the treasure within. The trailer can be seen above, and shows off a little bit of gameplay.
