Jim Carrey wanted to portray the more rotund version of Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Jim Carrey seemed like he had a lot of fun playing Dr. Robotnik in the first Sonic the Hedgehog film, and now he’s cranking things up to 11 for his return in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

In the package above, Carrey talks about really exploring the character of Dr. Robotnik in order to come up with even crazier ideas than the first movie. Carrey event talks about having an interest in taking on Robotnik’s more rotund shape in this film, but that obviously didn’t come to be.

Since we already know a third Sonic movie is in the works, maybe Carrey will have a chance to fill out between now and then!

I don't think putting on an unnecessary amount of weight is the right way to go with Carrey's portrayal of Robotnik. Everybody's into multiverses these days. Just have another actor who is more rotund come in to play Eggman. Goo goo g'joob.
