Earlier today, we shared the latest Japanese software sales data. Not surprisingly, Kirby and the Forgotten Land debuted at #1, but there’s even more to the store than we first thought.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land sold just over 380k physical copies in its first week. That figure is high enough to set a new record for the franchise in Japan. This gives Kirby and the Forgotten Land the biggest opening week sales for a Kirby game in Japanese history.

This achievement is even more impressive when you consider that the above tally only includes 3 days worth of sales data. Further still, that figure doesn’t include a single unit of digital sales!

Finally, Kirby and the Forgotten Land has had the second-biggest launch in Japan for 2022, falling just behind Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Looks like the jump to 3D for Kirby has been the franchise’s best move yet!

Wow! This really mouthfuls my nipples.

This is the first time I've bought a Kirby game, and I've been having a great time! The levels are interesting, the copy abilities are great, and mouthful mode concerns me.

I just hate it how doomed Nintendo is.

We all do. Especially when most of their games flop selling over a million ;)

By the way, are we going to get more Japanese sales carts? I wonder how Momotarou Dentetsu is doing these days =)
