Sonic the Hedgehog 2 projected to have $60-65 million opening weekend domestically

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 enjoyed very solid returns during its previews, and it seems like the situation is only getting better. While we obviously don’t know what the movie is going to make domestically for the weekend, the official projections have come in, and they’re extremely positive.

According to Deadline, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 should pull in from $60-65 million for its opening weekend. Even if it hits the lower end at $60 million, that would still put it ahead of the 3-day $58 million total that the original amassed during its opening weekend.

When you add in that projection with the preview totals, then throw in the foreign revenue as well, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 should hit the $100 million mark in a matter of days, not weeks.
