Development on the Nintendo Switch version of the Obsidian RPG ‘Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire’ has been reportedly cancelled. Dave Hulegaard, Community Lead at Versus Evil, the studio whom originally was going to publish the game, shared the disappointing news on the company’s official Discord server yesterday.

“Hey there! Unfortunately, after much deliberation, we have decided not to move forward with Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire for the Nintendo Switch.”

This may not come as a huge surprise to fans of the series, as Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition was riddled with bugs due to hardware limitations when it released for Switch back in 2019. Versus Evil revealed in a tweet last February that there will be no more updates or patches for the game, despite continuously reported issues.

The exact reason for the cancellation of the sequel is unknown.
