Longtime HAL employee Takashi Hamamura has announced that he’s retired from the company. Hamamura’s retirement from HAL was effective as of April 28th, 2022.

While Hamamura might not be a household name for game fans, he certainly played a big part in the Kirby franchise. Hamamura worked on multiple Kirby titles, including Kirby Battle Royale, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and most notably, he served as Game Director for Kirby: Squeak Squad.

There’s no word as to whether Hamamura will head to another company, or has retired from gaming work all together. We’ll keep an eye out for further developments.
