The first collaboration between GameFreak and Nintendo, this NES puzzler showcased Mario’s most loyal sidekick. The goal was to keep stacks of enemies from growing too high. Junichi Masuda was the composer.

This licensed, sidescrolling game for NES is one of the famous Capcom-developed titles based on a Disney Afternoon cartoon. It featured gameplay similar to Mega Man, but the lead character is much more “fowl” and is known as the “terror that flaps in the night”. Better watch out you bad boys!

The GBC saw this initial game in a series starring a gyrating genie developed by WayForward. Hair whip the enemies and learn new dances to transform into different animals to help solve puzzles. Probably turn SafeSearch on if you look for fan art. Oh, you’re just looking for research purposes, eh? Perv.

A “side story” game for the GBC centered around a viral outbreak on a passenger ship. Eschewing the over-the-shoulder view of the main series console games, much of the action is top-down until switching to a first-person combat mode to keep the zombies at bay. Despite what the name of this game conjures up in your memories, there are no ninjas in sight.

Possibly the most famous Nintendo-exclusive psychological horror game ever released, this GameCube title was developed by Silicon Knights. It featured various effects to mess with your mind and represent the playable character slowly delving into madness. No, your television is not actually turning down the volume by itself.

The DS saw the release of this blocky puzzle game in the long-running series developed by Intelligent Systems. This specific title was part of the Touch! Generations branding, but other installments have featured branding in the US related to Pokémon, Animal Crossing, and even Tetris. Why don’t they use the Japanese branding? My Lip’s (Stick) are sealed.

This is the first Wii title in the popular monster catching/battling series. It was also the first game for the Wii to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in North America. Force your kidnapped creatures to fight other kidnapped creatures for your own glory. Careful when using the acronym for this title in case people think you’re talking about beer or rodeo clowns.

Nintendo Switch saw the release of this debut 3D fighting title from the Mario Kart team. Combatants strafe around arenas using extendable appendages to beat each other into submission. Hey, get your mind out of the gutter! Not THOSE appendages…yeesh. The game has sold over 2 million copies and has fans pining for a sequel, proving that this title has legs.

Grezzo, the team famous for various Zelda remakes, had the chance to develop its own original 3DS title featuring dungeon crawling and town building. The director and producer of the game was the creator of the Mana series while at Square Enix. Unfortunately for the game, many Nintendo fans had already moved on to the Switch, so this title was kind of forgotten. Grezzo hasn’t had an opportunity outside remakes ever since.

When not waxing poetic about Nintendo you can probably find him in the professional wrestling ring as "Weapon Next" Logan Lynch, working out, or enjoying the Wisconsin outdoors. He's a kid trapped in an adult's body. You may have to grow older, but you don't have to grow up!

Guessed 7, didn't get Yoshi, Puzzle League and Pokémon BR.
My best memories come from Eternal Darkness, tremendous game with incredible sound design and voice acting.
But it's quite special to me because I had a Japanese NGC (I'm the French Stéphane from last week podcast, the NGC got a late release in Europe, May 2002, so when you're a gaming enthusiast you have no other choice but import) , and after beating Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Leader, Biohazard Remake and Mario Sunshine in Japanese I decided to have my console modded in a Parisian game store so it could run American games.
This was my first American game, I actually bought it from the store that modded the console.
This is a game I think about quite often, I'd love it to have a re-release so newcomers could experience it too.

"May the rats eat your eyes!" (Did you know Star Wars' Porkins did this voice acting?)

Got all except Planet Puzzle League and Ever Oasis.

Eternal Darkness truly messed with my mind. I really thought I lost my save data. Everyone wants a new F-Zero but I need more of this!

I got all of them except Planet Puzzle League. This one reminded me of a) how much I enjoyed Eternal Darkness and b) how much I wish they would either put it on a virtual console, remake it, or make a sequel to it.

I got Yoshi, Harvest Moon, Shante, Arms, and Ever Oasis. I haven't heard Ever Oasis mentioned in such a long time, but I had always heard good things. Maybe one day I will try it out. A switch port would be nice.
