The Evolution Championship Series (commonly known as EVO) has revealed the full title lineup for their upcoming 2022 series of tournaments.

The full list of games participating are:

  • Guilty Gear -Strive- (Arc System Works)
  • Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate - (Warner Bros. Games)
  • TEKKEN 7 - PS4 (BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment)
  • THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV - (SNK)

Fans of the series of championships will notice that Super Smash Brothers is not present in this year’s lineup. This follows an official announcement of the series’ absence last month by EVO themselves, reading:

Since 2007, we’ve seen historic Super Smash Bros. moments created at Evo’s events. We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year. In the future, we hope to once again celebrate the Super Smash Bros. community alongside them.

EVO 2022 will run from Friday, August 5, 2022 through Sunday, August 7, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kit and Krysta talk a bit about this in their podcast recently. They have their own thing with Panda, recent Smash Controversy and Sony ownership of Evo now. While unfortunate, i think anyone who says Nintendo doesnt have its reasons for not participating might be overlooking some aspects.

A little bummed about Smash but I'm really happy for the Skullgirls community. It's been a long time coming.
