Nintendo shared a bunch of new information during its 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, and that included a breakdown of what some of the company’s top directors make. In particular, we now know what Shuntaro Furukawa, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Shinya Takahashi are pulling in each year.

While we’ve always heard Nintendo’s higher-ups have rather modest earnings when compared to some of the big-name execs out there, they’re still making a pretty substantial amount of money. Here’s what the trio pulled in during the last fiscal year.

  • Shuntaro Furukawa: $2.3 million
  • Shigeru Miyamoto: $1.8 million
  • Shinya Takahashi: $1.4 million

This seems wrong and pittance compared to what other higher ups earn per year in the gaming industry, some earn over $100 million a year. Do Miyamoto and co get bonuses or maybe shares in the company as additional payment that wouldn't be included in these figures? I know Japanese workers are very loyal and it's a different culture to the West, but I'm surprised companies haven't at least tried to poach some of the talent at Nintendo.

@sligeach_eire

Do we even know what kind of lifestyle Miyamoto lives? Keep in mind, Iwata was willing to cut his own salary in half to prevent any layoffs during the dark days of the Wii U and 3DS. It seems to be these guys would rather the money go towards development then just burning a hole in their pocket.

You mean they kind of thing where people lose jobs and the CEO gets the most benefit?

If this includes bonuses then they are relatively modest sums given Nintendo’s global market cap
