You might remember that we reported a while back how YouTuber turned pro wrestler Logan Paul had worn a rare Pokémon card to WrestleMania. Well, now Paul’s back in the news with the story of how he made the $5.3 million purchase of the card and how the it will now be available for all to “own” as an NFT. (assuming you have $5 million laying around)

In the video Paul details the legacy of the rare Illustrator Pikachu card and his journey to get the card with the highest mint rating by the PSA grading company. PSA claims the card Paul bought is in perfect condition with the highest score possible of 10.

That’s par for the course for Logan Paul, he’s become somewhat infamous on YouTube for… well, many things; but as far as Pokémon fans are concerned he’s consistently made headlines with his extravagant and often frivolous purchases in the TCG collection scene. Some even blame the Pokémon card collection boom of the past few years on Paul and other YouTubers who make videos of a similar style.

As stated earlier, come July 9th, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, Paul will be minting an NFT of the Illustrator Pikachu card and hosting it on the platform he co-founded, Liquid Marketplace. While the platform is relatively new they claim to “offer collectors the opportunity to co-own physical and digital assets through the power of tokenization” so make of that what you will.

Paul states he will hold a 49% claim on the card with the rest going to the community who buys in. This basically means that what happens with the card will be a joint decision between Paul and the people who buy the NFT. If he wants to wear the card to a match or donate it to a museum the community can vote on it’s fate, whether or not he will stay true to his word is yet to be seen.

This is a right concoction of things I couldn't care less about. NFT's are nothing more than a scam, and last I heard they were dying a quick death.
