A sizable adventure

Bayonetta fans finally had their prayers answered last week. Nintendo and PlatinumGames revealed that Bayonetta 3 is coming to Switch on Oct. 28th, 2022, and it’s looking to be the wildest installment yet. While pre-orders are open for both at retail and on the Switch eShop, we have some news for those who are going the digital route.

According to Nintendo.com’s listing, Bayonetta 3 is going to take up 15 GB of space. That’s certainly more than most of Nintendo’s own titles, but not absolutely huge. Anyone going digital on Switch most likely has a sizable microSD card at the ready, so 15 GB shouldn’t be much of an issue at all.

In Bayonetta 3, Bayonetta struts through multiple locations in an over-the-top climax action game. Sporting a wicked new ensemble and somehow familiar pigtails, the titular Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and time-slowing Witch Time ability. This time, invading manmade bioweapons called Homunculi find themselves in Bayonetta’s crosshairs.

15GB, eh? So it'll just fit on a 16GB cartridge. I hope they didn't cut anything or compress material detrimentally to make that happen.

I expect this file size to shrink, as other games in the past have done the same.

Well..the OLED has 64GB internal already so....

Bayonetta is 8,5, Bayonetta 2 is 12.4 and this one is 15. And the boys and girls at Platinum ahave most probably become better at their thing so I wonder how jam packed Bayonetta 3 is going to be.

Every time Nintendo and Platinum work together they make the best games. Nintendo! Assimilate them already!

Also Astral Chain was 9.6 GB. So since they've had more time to work with the system and presumably better optimize their games, Bayonetta 3 could be really impressive either in scope or beauty (or both).

That said, Platinum is probably best off as an independent entity. Babylon's Fall notwithstanding...

Hey, Mocky! =) Long time, no chat! How ya doin'?

Yes indeed. They know the system way better now than before and have also grown as a studio and on top of that their talented members aren't losing knowledge the more they make games either. Bayoetta 3 looks amazng from the last trailer. It really seems to push the Switch t it's brim. And all this is supposed to be in 60 FPS? Good thing they took the extra time in development.

Platinum wanted to be it's own entity at for so long, but how will they do it is another question. They did once say something like "We can be purchased as long as we get total creative freedom" which is a sign they might not be doing so good independently as they wanted to. So IF someone buys them I sure hope it's Nintendo. They are super close and big fans of each other, Nintendo seems to be able to give them a lot of free space to have fun and be creative and Ninty has the money. Also, Nintendo really neds a team like this. But most importantly, and as mentioned, whenever they work together they make perfection! So in this world where small(er) studios are eaten by the big sharks and Platinum goes for sale, I hope it's Nintendo who takes them in. We would have no sisasters like Babylon's Fall and their reputation wouldbe a tad bit better =)

Oh and where's Astra Chain 2? =D
