Japanese software/hardware sales for July 11th to July 17th, 2022

Wondering how the Switch held up in Japan this week? Switch titles impressively made up the entirety of the top 10 best-selling software list. Monster Hunter Rise + Sunbreak Set continues to hold onto its first place position, selling an additional 29k units in its third week on the market. Nintendo Switch Sports follows right behind in second, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remaining in a solid third. There are no new game debuts that made the top 10 this week.

As for hardware, the Switch maintained its top spot with the OLED model, selling 29,180 additional units. This is followed by the standard Switch in second (23,889), with the Switch Lite in forth (8,608), surpassed only by Sony’s PlayStation 5.

Sales of the Monster Hunter Rise + Sunbreak Set have tailed off quickly after only a few weeks. It's possibly to do with a lot of people already owning the base game. The same reason can't be used for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. I think Nintendo and Koei Tecmo might have been hoping for better.

And there's something you don't see every week. PS5 hardware selling 5 figures and beating a Switch platform in sales.
