Listen to BBC Proms' entire tribute to the music of videogames

Back in April, we shared first details of the BBC Proms game music tribute. BBC Proms is an eight-week Summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events held annually, predominantly in the Royal Albert Hall in central London. This year’s version includes a tribute to the music of games, and the performance took place earlier this week. This was the first time the BBC Proms hosted a game music presentation.

Composers that appeared at the event include conductor Robert Ames, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Sam Slater, Jessica Curry, Yoko Shimomura and Kow Otani. The performers were accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The performance included music from the following games:

• Matt Rogers, Tim Follin – Loading Chronos (Eight minutes)
• Koji Kondo – The Legend of Zelda (Five minutes)
• CHAINES – Tribute to Pokemon, Ecco and Secret of Mana (10 minutes)
• Nobuo Uematsu – Final Fantasy VII: Liberi Fatali (Five minutes)
• Kow Otani – Shadow of the Colossus (Eight minutes)
• Yoko Shimomura, Hikaru Utada – Kingdom Hearts (Four minutes)
• Austin Wintory – Excerpts from Traveller – A Journey Symphony (15 minutes)
• Sam Slater – Selections From Battlefield 2042 (14 minutes)
• Jessica Curry – Dear Esther/So Let us Melt – I have Begun My Ascent; The Leaving (Five minutes)
