Back in February of this year, Netflix announced that they were working on a live-action adaptation of the original BioShock game. We haven’t heard or seen much since that announcement, but today brings us a little bit of news on who’s steering the project.

According to Netflix, Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, I Am Legend, Slumberland) has joined to direct the live-action film adaptation. Lawrence will be joining Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049, Death on the Nile), who’s been tasked with writing the screenplay.

Lawrence is currently deep into filming The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, so BioShock will have to take a backseat until that project wraps. Even with that being the case, Netflix still says that BioShock will be coming ‘soon.’

I've never played Bioshock, but I've only heard good things about the series. That's another big name attached to the film, sounds like they're really trying with this project.

Netflix doesn't have a very good record for adaptations, unfortunately. And something like Bioshock needs a nice, big budget but probably won't receive it.
