Mario Kart Tour September update will remove gacha feature, add battle mode, and more

Nintendo has given us a peek at Mario Kart Tour’s upcoming September update, and it seems the game will face quite a change. Check out the changes below.

  • Pipes, which is the gacha part of the game, where you pay rubies to fire pipes and earn various items, will be removed
  • Battle Mode will be added
  • A Spotlight shop will be added, which allows you to exchange rubies for drivers, karts, and gliders

Mario Kart Tour is available now on iOS and Android.

It's a step in the right direction, but as others have posted out elsewhere, they've replaced a gacha mechanic with a timed exclusive FOMO mechanic.
