In yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, the Big N revealed a slew of new N64 games for the Switch Online N64 app. Included in the collection were Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2, which is quite the big deal. These games have never seen re-release digitally, despite fans clamoring for them. Thankfully, they’ll be heading our way sometime in 2023.

Now for the bad news… If you check out the fine print during the reveal of Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 for Switch Online, you’ll notice a message that reads, “Pokémon cannot be transferred to these games.” That’s certainly sad to see, but we can’t say it’s unexpected either.

Some fans were hoping that the transfer features of these games would allow players to take Pokémon from the 3DS VC versions of Pokémon games, or through Pokémon HOME. Unfortunately, that’s not going to be the case. Truth be told, it’s probably a situation of too much work/effort for a feature few would use, but that’s just speculation on our part.

Yeah it’s a bummer. Maybe if NSO also had the VC versions of the gameboy Pokémon games it would be easier to do because it would just be reading the save file similar to the original physical version.

Not surprised. Definitely would take a lot of work to get it done and I doubt many would take advantage of it other than just to try it out. The rental Pokémon are kind of lame but they get the job done if you wanna play through the single player.

Obviously it's a bummer to hear, but I'm not too mad, the mini games are what I really wanted to play again.
