Last week’s Nintendo Direct included a bunch of surprises, but one of the biggest might have been the reveal of GoldenEye 007’s return. The game is slated to come to the Switch Online Expansion Pack service sometime in 2023, and for Switch gamers, the experience will include online play. It was a major moment for older Nintendo fans, and one that people are still talking about.

Some of that chatter is coming from Nightdive Studios, a company known for reviving classics games/franchises for remasters and re-releases. Nightdive chimed in on the GoldenEye 007 situation, and according to Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick, their company was almost the one who got to tackle the revival.

Unfortunately, that’s all the info Nightdive’s CEO was willing to share. We actually don’t have any clue as to who is behind this GoldenEye 007 return, which means we’ll likely have to wait until the game releases to find out.

It will be interesting to see if Rare have at least HD-ified the N64 graphics and bumped up the textures and frame rate. Nintendo didn't show any gameplay footage in the recent Direct.
