Monkey Island fans are clearly dedicated. We don’t see new installments in the franchise too often, but when they roll around, fans are eager to jump in and check them out. That is very much the case with Return to Monkey Island, the latest entry in the series.

According to publisher Devolver Digital, Return to Monkey Island has garnered attention unlike any other installment so far. While specific numbers weren’t shared, we do know that Return to Monkey Island is now the fastest-selling game in the entire series. It’s great to know that not only are longtime fans still eager to support the series once again, but newcomers are interested as well.

Return to Monkey Island is an unexpected, thrilling return of series creator Ron Gilbert that continues the story of the legendary adventure games The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. You can pick this title up right now for $28.

It's well deserved! Too bad they didn't also released the special editions of episode 1&2 on the Switch, as well as Curse, Escape and Tales... It's clearly a missed opportunity!

Technically all the games are canon since they get referenced. In one of the puzzles where you have to put a story together the mermaid, the kraken and Morgan LeFlay all get brought up.

Now hopefully Disney stops being such a jerk with this property or gives/sells it to Ron Gilbert so he can continue it.

I would've played those games and the new one for sure but I'm not gonna start with the newest game in such a long running series.
