Sonic Frontiers is the latest victim of review bombing

Sonic voice: that's NO good!

Sonic Frontiers is the latest entry in the Sonic franchise and, overall, the game has seen a lot of praise from fans and the media, at least when we compare it to previous projects like Sonic Forces.

However, not everyone will share the same opinion, like in the case of YouTube personality Videogamedunkey.

Dunkey is known for his video reviews with a focus on comedy and entertainment, though he is not shy when it comes to voicing his real opinion on the games he plays. Dunkey was not a fan of Sonic Frontiers and while that’s fine as it’s his opinion, some people saw that as an attack to their favorite franchise.

Although the game was getting favorable reviews on Metacritic, we’ve been seeing a lot of negative ones being left by people who are seemingly Dunkey’s fans. The Youtuber mentions however that these people are most likely Sonic fans themselves, leaving these reviews in order to give a bad name to his fanbase.

While there’s no way to check who is actually writing these, it’s not hard to squint at them, given the usernames on the site.

Luckily, these reviews have not been enough to lower the score of the game substantially, and it still sits at a comfortable 80 score, for the PC version and at a 72 score for the Switch. It’s worth noting that the score for the Switch version tends to be lower because of performance issues.

Review bombs are not good, and it seems counterproductive to have one for a game that, in general, was doing pretty well, but now has to suffer due to differences in opinions. But what do you think? Do you think Sonic Frontiers deserved a lower score? a higher one? Are you OK with it as it stands? Let us know!

The scores users will affect is the userscore, which for PC and Switch are 8.7 and 8.4 respectively. What you listed are the critic scores, which don't factor in those users in their calculation.
