Nintendo returned with another Nintendo Direct that put the spotlight on the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Last time, we got the debut teaser trailer for the film. Today brings us the second trailer, which definitely gives us a much better look at what to expect.

You can check out the second trailer in full via the embed above.

Donkey Kong makes his debut in this trailer, and Nintendo pointed out that they’ve giving the character a bit of a makeover for his feature film debut. He’s definitely got more of a comedic personality this time around!

Friendly reminder that the Twitch stream is always a few seconds ahead of YouTube.
Post trailer edit:
LOVED IT. Peach is going to rock and so glad she isn’t relegated to being a damsel in distress.

People kept complaining about Pratt's voice, but it's clear to me that EVERYONE sounds different, and we're just going to have to get used it. But we probably will. Peach's voice has nothing to do with her video game counterpart, other than they're both female. I like how Peach and Donkey Kong look, though.

I thought the trailer was great. Loved all the references. The Donkey Kong new look though, there's something off about it, I think it's his eyes.

I'm not hyped for this
I don't like seeing Mario and Peach characterized this way.
I always pictured him as an old school Indiana Jones type protagonist who has done a lot before and we are just experiencing one of his many stories.
A lot of people have been throwing around "Mario Isekai" and I can see why. I would rather have a story that's more true to that original characterization.

Looking back over it I'm a bit worried about how much of an idiot they're making Mario. I hope it's just the trailer being misleading, but right now I get the impression Mario's going to be a bumbling doofus clear throughout the movie, up until he does a quick 180 and rescues people in the end. And Peach is going to be the typical "strong female character" the whole time and maybe even do the actual rescuing.

Wow... Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are such awful casting. Chris Pratt is doing his Chris Pratt voice and Charlie Day is doing his Charlie Day voice. I was holding out hope that they might've tried to go with a Super Mario Bros. Supershow vibe with their voices, but no - they were just cast for idiotic Hollywood "star power" reasons.

The last trailer was way better because Jack Black actually nails the Bowser voice.

I'd be a lot more hyped if Mario's voice wasn't so bad. Looks great, sounds bad.
