The final figures for November’s gaming hardware and software sales in the UK have come in, and once again Nintendo has managed to secure a victory. It all starts with the top 20 software in the UK, which you can find below.

A quick look at the top 20 software sales shows that half the chart is occupied by titles that appear on Switch, and roughly half of them are Switch-exclusive. Even with fierce competition from Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo wooed enough consumers to dominate the charts.

Along with this breakdown comes details on hardware, and once again the Switch came out above all other options. Total consoles sold in the month across all platforms amounted to 372,000 consoles, and Switch accounts for the bulk of that figure, seeing a 175% jump in sales month-on-month. Sales were no doubt spurred on by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, with the Pokémon Scarlet/Violet Switch OLED version account for 8% of all Switch consoles sold.

There’s plenty of other stats to share on the UK games market in November 2022, and you can read the breakdown below.

  • just over 4.3 million games were sold a drop of 7.3% over the year before
  • if Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sales were combined, they would be #3 overall
  • it’s important to note that Nintendo’s sales data here doesn’t include digital numbers
  • over 1.29 million accessories were sold last month, a rise of 93% over October
  • accessories were up 9.3% up over November last year

I think it’s time to retire the “UK is PlayStation territory” mantra.

The thing is, the Switch is freely available everywhere. While the PS5 is sold out everywhere. People can't buy that which doesn't exist.

PS5 has been available on shop shelves here in the UK pretty easily lately. It’s not like 2021. It still saw an increase of 71% in console sales so it very much exists.

And does it have games worth getting?

it still doesn't take any credit away from the Switch, if people didn't wanted one, they wouldn't be buying it at those numbers

Hella impressive for a 6 year old system 👍

It hasn't though, it's sporadically available from time to time. It's still impressive that Nintendo can sell that many units of a system after 6 years that is creaking at the seams.

Are you living the UK and frequenting places that sell consoles? I am. So I think I know a little more than your anecdotal opinion.

There are actually plenty of games on both Switch and PS5 worth getting. And next year is going to be pretty bad-ass for both!

Again..what PS5 games are worth getting that you can't get on PC?

@socar

Returnal, Demon's Soul, R&C: Rift apart and for the car lovers GT7 for example. All great quality games. Some might hit the PC at some point in time, but not all it seems and why wait when you can have them on PS5 anyway? =)

Because buying the games that are more expensive on PS5 is cheaper on PC?

@socar

If they truly are cheaper on PC then fair enough. But Sony will not release all the PS5 exclusives on PC and those they release on PC will be timed exclusives on PS5 because they do not want to lose PS5 sales which is understandable from a business standpoint.

BTW Returnal is coming to PC next year. Was revealed at the game awards. It's an amazing game that oozes with Metroid vibes, uses the DualSense and 3D audio in superb ways, great atmosphere and is just a blast to play. The others I listed seems locked to PS5 though.

You're missing the point. At this rate, the Switch is already the third best selling console of all time. PS5 is never going to top that and for Sony, they are making more money on porting their games to PC than they are on consoles.

This is honestly where Microsoft is going to shift focus on depending on how well the Series X sells. Switch has no real competition.

@socar

There is more money for Sony to ahve their games sold on their own ecosystem, thus the lack of/late ports to PC.
