It looks like the future for MAGES, the dev behind the STEINS;GATE visual novel series, could be quite grim. Following a string of financial losses, the company is apparently set to enter insolvency. For those who don’t know, insolvency is a term for when an individual or company can no longer meet their financial obligations to lenders as debts become due.

Some might remember that MAGES was acquired by Colopl roughly 3 years ago, but unfortunately, it appears things have not gone well since the acquisition. Neither Colopl or MAGES have commented publicly on the matter, but it’s likely we’ll hear some sort of official update through various filings in the near future.

We’ll certainly keep our eye on this story for any updates. Until then, now might be the perfect time to dive into MAGES’ library to see if they have a visual novel that’ll tickle your fancy.

NOOOOOOO!!!! I hope someone'll step in and help them!
Steins;Gate is one of the best games ever made and their other games are pretty good too. I was so looking forward to Steins;Gate 0 Elite and their brand new game...
