A new piece of advertising has been spotted for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it confirms that the game will have some sort of online functionality. You can see a picture of that advertising, which comes via a retail pamphlet, above.

At this time, we don’t have official details on what kind of online content Tears of the Kingdom will have, but there’s a good chance this is tied to either Cloud Saves or future DLC. Again, that’s just speculation at this point, but it seems highly unlikely Tears of the Kingdom would have some sort of playable online mode.

Once Nintendo announces what the online components of Tears of the Kingdom are, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Thanks to Sligeach_eire for the heads up!

Basic online features I’d expect.

Or we can go full rumour and say this confirms online co-op play with Zelda :)
(/s for those that can’t read hyperbole)
You can see the number of players being “1” listed.

Similar to BOTW, the Nintendo store page for TOTK lists “Online” functionality as relating to save data cloud.

@kuribo

Exactly. Just cloud saves. BOTW didn’t have this tag on its box or promotional materials because cloud saves weren’t a thing at the time. The Nintendo.com store page explains what the “Online” tag means.

You know what else wasn't a thing? Charging for next to nothing. Cloud saves. I've read the jokes, about the game being amongst the clouds, that was funny. Some people are as well, less so.

I hope they don't put the harder difficulty behind a paywall again.
Disgusting!

Yeah I hope things like Master Mode and Hero’s Path (assuming a map) are just included from day 1. Worst case, make Master Mode a New Game+ mode.

Completely agree. That was absolutely disgusting. So was the Hero's Path. It was in the game from day 1, but wasn't made available until you paid for the DLC and then it showed you everywhere you had been. It's an amazing game, possibly the best ever, but little things like that left a sour taste in the mouth. The same goes for the various unlockable outfits in the game, locked behind amiibo, amiibo that weren't purchasable, even if you wanted to.

So that NSO big splashy image that is the same size as the screen shots next to it is just standard (in that region) for any game that benefits from any aspect of NSO? It does seem prominently placed…
