It looks like images of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED Model may have just been leaked online. The images you see below were first posted in a Chinese forum called Tieba, and then shared by Kysen and mazi in FamiBoards. The images show a golden-themed Zelda design for the Joy-Cons and the dock.

As always, it’s important to take this information with a grain of salt until it’s officially confirmed by Nintendo. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any new developments, so stay tuned.

Hmmm. I want to want it, but I really have no good reason to buy an OLED Switch. Hardly ever playing mobile, and for docked mode it's completely pointless. I've already bought a pointless upgrade once (the revised Switch because the AC model was so pretty).

Here's hoping there will be some limited edition of the game itself, too.

Oooooh that looks nice. I upgraded to the OLED when it came out and gave my original to my sister. I play mostly handheld so was worth the nicer screen.

There’s the new Switch hardware model launching with TOTK folks. Hahahaha.

At this point I'm just ready to hear about the next system.

That looks believable, but indeed lets wait and see. I still have that golden GBA SP I got with the Minish Cap in the meanwhile. Might need to dust it off a little haha This one might have a better screen though...
If Tears of the Kingdom won't get delayed you'd expect some more glimpses of it surfacing soonly.

It's well believable that there is a new Switch OLED model for the launch of TOTK. RGT85 and many others covered this about a month ago.

I'd much rather see a new Switch model though. BOTW played on the Wii U, a machine that released in 2012. TOTK could run on Wii U, but won't for obvious reasons. So really, what we've got from 2012 to 2023, is a machine that plays Zelda at 900p and 30fps, instead of a machine that plays Zelda at 720p and 30fps. 😐 I'm beyond ready for new Nintendo hardware, I'm beyond ready for a new Mario Kart, I'm beyond ready...

Yes I get what you're saying and that is why I didn't switch to Switch.

I'd love to see a port of TOTK come to the Wii U, that would be revolutionary! And while you're at it I'm very much interested in how a port of BoTW or TOTK would do on GameCube as well. Features and scope can be changed of course, but try to get it as great a possible for this consoles experience ^-^

Switch is running parallel to how Wii ended (but with a little extra 3rd party support). It only means there won't be a new Zelda for Nintendo's next system until near the end of that one's life somewhere in the 2030's. Zelda ports/remasters for the next system may be all we get until then.

We can only hope the Switch's follow-up isn't another Wii U.

Skyward Sword didn't save the OG Wii from collapsing. Tears of the Kingdom may not save Switch from fading especially after 3rd parties start giving up on supporting Switch because the power isn't equivalent to PS5/Xbox Series.

@ngamer01

Switch is not running parallel to Wii.
At almost 6 years after the Wii launched it was a dead console, it sold a lot sure but no one was playing it, and sales had fallen off a cliff long before then.

The Switch is far more popular, and has maintained popularity and an active player base.

You can compare lifetime console sales of Wii and Switch and that’s where the comparison stops.

The next Nintendo system isn’t going to be equivalent to PS5/XBX either. So that point is, and has been since Wii, moot.

Upon closer inspection, I believe it. Switch 2 will launch with a 3D Mario game

If it arrives it might get a release of TOTK as well, or deluxe version maybe like how the Wii U games were ported to Switch. That would be a no brainer release I guess. For me, probably I can just skip Switch all the way and play the definitive edition of newest Zelda later on.

The whining is strong in the comments every gosh darn time the new Zelda game or ANY talk about a Switch model comes up. I wish it would stop. Honestly.

That said I don't plan to buy an OLED Switch but I would like to buy the Joy Cons just like I wanted to buy the Splatoon 3 Joy Cons. But alas they will be exclusive to the bundle it seems.

One thing the Switch has over the Steamdeck is that OLED screen. Man that's a nice screen.
