According to Gamesindustry.biz., the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling system in the UK during 2022. While this can be seen as good news, it’s important to note that video game consoles did see a fall in overall sales of 28%.

Video game sales also saw a decline of 6%, however, new game releases rose by 20%, meaning that titles like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet got to shine, specifically with a 36% increase in comparison with the last title, Pokémon Brilliant Diamon and Shining Pearl.

As for the best-selling Nintendo game, that title goes to Nintendo Switch Sports, followed by the Pokémon games. Technically, the Pokémon titles did sell more, but both versions are counted as separate games. It’s worth noting that Nintendo only shares physical sales, so if we counted digital downloads, numbers could change.

If you’d like to see the details of the report, below we have the 20 best-selling games according to Gameindustry.biz:

Sales of Xbox and Sony consoles were down 28%? OMG they’re doomed. They need to release a Series X Pro and PS5 Pro ASAP.

Switch hardware sales are down almost 28% on last year, and those are down on the year before. Nintendo I don't think will wait for Switch sales to fall off a cliff. They can't afford to, there's no safety net of a second platform to carry them should one fail. Also, releasing a Switch 2 before the brand becomes stale(take note of Wii to Wii U), could help with the transition. Plus Switch sales don't have to completely tank when a new console launches, it can be a cheaper(? it's Nintendo ?) alternative with a huge catalogue of games.

Sales in Japan might be doing really well, but other regions are slowing down, naturally after almost 6 years. Nintendo should be proactive, not reactive.

There's a fair bit in the story, but missing here. Like that almost 2 million consoles were sold last year, but less than 60,000 units separated all 3 platforms. Or that Microsoft, but especially Sony were impacted by massive shortages for most of the year.

Did you even read the story properly? Same rigmarole every time with a top story, where gibberish is posted after my opening remark, but lo and behold...
