The GameCube wasn’t really a platform known for its RPGs, but it did have some stellar titles for fans of the genre. Sitting near the top of that heap is Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, which came from Bandai Namco, tri-Crescendo and Monolith Soft. This fan-favorite has remained locked on the GameCube ever since its 2003 release, but a new rumor points to a potential Switch release.

The gang at eXputer is claiming they’ve see ‘graphic evidence’ that confirms a remake of Baten Kaitos is in the works, and it’s set to arrive on Switch sometime in Summer 2023. This remake would once again involve Bandai Namco and Monolith Soft, along with Nintendo overseeing everything.

It’s not clear if this remake would be a complete visual and gameplay overhaul, or something closer to a remaster. Along with that, there’s a lesser chance that Baten Kaitos would be released for Switch in a bundle with Baten Kaitos Origins.

As you can see, there are a lot of things up in the air with this rumor for the time being. We’ll do our best to get more details and bring them to you.

Thanks to TurboK for the heads up!

OMG if this is true!!! I can’t believe it. I LOVED that game. The visuals were mind blowing to me back then. And I really liked the battle system. I can’t for the life of me remember any of the characters besides the main character. But it has been 18 years since I played it so who can blame me. At least I remember the feelings it gave me, and I’m so ready to relive it again.

So that's F-Zero GX, the 2 Metroid games on Gamecube and now Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean being coming to Switch. More if you include Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD, though they are Gamecube games originally.

Please be true, this is one of my fave games of all time and would love an easy and convenient (and upgraded) way of playing it again.

@ladasta

With the success of so many card battlers, it makes sense to remake.
