Fans of the Advance Wars series have been wondering when Nintendo would finally release Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. While Nintendo has been quiet on the game for months now, rumor has it the silence will come to an end next week.

Numerous retail employees have taken to Reddit to discuss some interesting new packaging that has arrived at their place of work. According to various sources, locations like Walmart have started to receive signage for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. Of particular interest is what the signage says.

Apparently, these new Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp displays have an ‘available now’ message on them. Alongside the signage are instructions for employees that say to put the display out in stores on February 10th, 2023.

This rumor goes hand-in-hand with rumors of a Nintendo Direct next week. At this point, it seems like a Direct is a foregone conclusion, but please remember that Nintendo hasn’t made any official announcements at this time. Hopefully both of these rumors turn out to be true next week.

This was delayed for a good while. I worry the remake is dead on arrival now which would reshelve the series for good. :(

I dunno. It was originally not announced for Japan at all, after Black Friday in the US, and sandwiched in between two Pokemon games with almost no marketing. I think a stealth drop a year and a half later will sell as well as they originally planned it to, ie not well either way. Chances are the only people that were going to buy it then will still buy it now

As someone who works in merchandising I highly doubt Nintendo would send instructions to Walmart employees to make sure product was on the sales floor especially by a certain date....this is typically something video game manufacturers hire merchandising companies like the one I work for to ensure placement of products for them. Unless what this employee seen was intended for a third party merchandising representative

I have worked with a Nintendo program in the past where in the US they send out extra seasonal help during the holiday to assist the full time ambassadors who visit stores.

I can tell you firsthand that yes, Nintendo absolutely sends materials like this for the stores themselves to set out, including things such as endcap headers, shelf displays, 6ft rolling towers, etc. The full time Nintendo Brand Ambassador only installs large or important things such as Switch hardware and TV displays, otherwise they just go to each store once a month to make sure things are going smoothly and to educate on upcoming releases.

The only time they use a third party company is for the seasonal help, and even then, all they do is assist the stores in anything they need help with and talk to customers.

@bakfug

Well then they handle it much differently as Microsoft used Actionlink when I worked for them and Sony is using Premium

@conangiga

Most probably. Even though some Feb Directs were on Wednsdays and the 10th this month is a Friday I think we'll have the game just after the Direct as in many cases.

Wonder what Pikmin 4 look like. Oh and what nice surprises they might have =)

That is true. Sony uses a different company now, which I can't quite remember, but both would still leave the stores to put out simple things like headers or whatnot. Their reps very rarely go into stores anymore. It's one thing I really like about Nintendo. They have actual Nintendo employees working to maintain that relationship with retailers when the rest don't care anymore.

@bakfug

Sony uses the company I work for now Premium at least in Targets for audits, graphic placements, packouts, resets, and other simple things

Ah yes, that is the one. Do you know how often they get to stores for Playstation stuff now? I see them in stores In my area maybe twice a year on a good year, now. I managed a GameStop back in the day, and they'd have reps come about once every two months, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

@bakfug

Sony got rid of all their own reps from what I was told they had my company audit Gamestop once last year now I've had Playstation audits and such in Target at least once a month
