While there were already rumblings of Nintendo not attending E3 2023 this year, it’s now official. IGN has received a statement from Nintendo confirming that they won’t be involved with this year’s show, but they continue to be a supporter of E3 in general. You can see the company’s statement below.

“We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans. Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of the ESA and E3.”

As for what Nintendo plans to do around E3 time, if anything, we have no idea as of right now. We’ll certainly let you know of Nintendo’s plans should they share details in advance.

Hopefully there will be a proper Direct between now and September. I know Nintendo operates on their own schedule but I would hate to wait that long again like what happened last year

Allegedly E3 were asking for money in the 6 figure digits range from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft to attend so it's not surprising they are skipping it.

This year feels like a last hurray for E3 and it's already withered before it even had a chance. Time to call it I think and relegate it to memories of gaming past.

@mystikoi

If we should go by what lucius6 wrote here I think a summer Direct is a given. They just didn't feel like wasting money on E3 when they just do their Directs anyway.

Curious to see if they have any big hitters for the Switch after TOTK.
