UK software/hardware sales for February 2022

Certainly a quieter month for Nintendo

With February 2023 officially behind us, we can take a look back at the month of sales to see how things went. Today, we’re taking a look specifically at the sales situation in the United Kingdom.

We have all sorts of data to share on both hardware and software, but let’s kick things off with the top 20 games of February 2022. Please remember that Nintendo doesn’t share digital sales figures, so any Nintendo title in the list below only includes physical sales.

  9. Dead Space Remake
  10. God of War Ragnarok (Sony)
  11. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe (Nintendo)*
  12. Grand Theft Auto Online (Rockstar)

As for the hardware side of things, we don’t have a specific breakdown of how many units each platform moved, but we do have some overall data to share.

  • console sales were up 65% over the same month last year, and up 14% over January
  • 143,000 hardware units were sold
  • Switch sales were down 15% compared with January
  • Switch sales were down 29% over this time last year
  • Switch came in third overall

So the PS5 and Hogwarts Legacy are the two real winners this time, both boosting in sales. I guess scalpers are to "blame" for some of the PS5 sales but joke's on them when they probably will lose money trying to resell them since they are now readily available.

And guess the boycott for Hogwarts worked just as fine as the Bayonetta 3 one. Colour me surprised.

Switch! Well, the OLED TOTK model will sure sell for collectors =) But of course the sales are down. The thing is been breaking records for six years now. It's stagnation time.
