Koei Tecmo has announced that the Atelier Ryza franchise has reached a considerable milestone, which goes to show just how much the Atelier brand has grown with the introduction of the Ryza line of titles.

According to Koei Tecmo, shipments of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout and Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy combined have reached 1.6 million units worldwide. That figure includes both boxed copies and digital units. Koei Tecmo shared a special animation to celebrate this occasion, which you can see below.

The series is sure to see another million units sold easy with the upcoming introduction of Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, which is set to release on Switch March 24th, 2023.

"The series is sure to see another million units sold easy with the upcoming introduction of Atelier Ryza 3"

That's a really lofty statement seeing how estimates might put Ryza 1 near 1 million making it a huge drop for 2, and the third in a series almost surely will never match the sales numbers of the previous titles. For comparison, Ryza 1 sold about 150k first week in Japan while Ryza 2 was under 75k. I expect a ~45k opening week in Japan, similar to the equally popular Sophie 2, and a slow, slow crawl in 2 million for the series, if that even.
