Welcome to GoNintendo Rewind! This will be a weekly feature that takes a look back at the video content we shared over the last 7 days. You can look forward to podcast episodes, clips pulled from each show, gameplay videos, what we’re up to on Patreon, and more!

This is the second installment of GoNintendo Rewind, as this week also marked the return of more original video content on GoNintendo. While our return to video will focus mostly on podcast content and a weekly gameplay video at first, we’ll slowly branch out into more features. If you’re curious what we’ve been up to video-wise each week, this is the perfect place to pop in!

First up is a complete recap of the drama that happened with me and Completionist fans. After posting about The Completionist and his efforts to archive every Wii U and 3DS eShop title, I opened myself up to a deluge of vitriol on social media. The thing is, I had no idea any trouble was brewing, so it hit me like a ton of bricks! You can hear the entire sordid tale in the video above.

Moving on to a much lighter topic, we discussed the change in direction for the Atelier series going forward. The Atelier Ryza trilogy is known for a number of different things, and certainly among the topics is fan service. With the release of Atelier Ryza 3, the dev team has made a conscious effort to move away from fan service in an attempt to widen the franchise’s appeal. As you might expect, some fans are quite upset with this!

Our next video offers a deep dive on Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. After spending a few hours with the game, I was completely blown away with what I had experienced. In the clip above, you can hear me gush all about Bayonetta Origins and everything it offers. Could this game be Platinum’s finest work so far?

Jakks Pacific was nice enough to send us a treasure trove of toys all tied to the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie. While there were plenty of things to have fun with, the entire podcast crew was enamored with the ‘Fire-Breathing Bowser’ figure. Since we’re all completely immature, we use that as a jumping point to put on a smoke show with Bowser and make every inappropriate joke possible.

In our final video of the week, I sat down with the recently-released Switch title Kraino Origins to give it a shot. I knew the game was aiming for a classic platformer feel, with heavy inspiration coming from the Mega Man series. That’s all I needed to hear to get excited, and in this video you can see me tackle the game’s first stage and talk about the positives/negatives.

Last, but not least, we have the GoNintendo Patreon. Did you know that you can join the GoNintendo Patreon for just $1? That’s literally the only tier there is, and it gives you access to every single post/feature/video we share on Patreon!

For those who don’t know, GoNintendo’s Patreon offers all kinds of discussion and features. I certainly talk about Nintendo in multiple posts, but I also write about videogames in general, anime, pro wrestling, TV shows, movies, and so much more. You can expect reviews, stream of consciousness features, questions posed to you guys, and plenty of other approaches.

Here’s what you can find on the GoNintendo Patreon in just the last week alone.

  • Giving TV shows a chance to find themselves
  • Wheel of Fortune X WWE collab
  • Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hype following the 10-minute gameplay segment
  • How to get started with One Piece
  • Discussing the end of E3 as we know it

No matter what’s going on, there’s a new post on the GoNintendo Patreon every single day. If what you’ve seen/heard sounds good, we’d love to see you over there!

That’s it for this week’s GoNintendo Rewind. Again, this recap is meant to focus on our video features and Patreon posts for the week. We still have plenty of other original content on GoNintendo each week in the way of reviews, previews, interviews and more. All you have to do to see that content is check out our front page!

Thanks so much for your continued support of GoNintendo. We’ll see you in the next GoNintendo Rewind!

Wow, this whole completionist business is weird. Fan, Youtuber and Completionist are all fine simply because they are all true.
People have too much time on their hands to be upset about every little thing.
I'm glad I'm not a creator as things like this and negative comments wold probably break me quite quickly.

As for Bayo Origins: I liked it but found it a bit repetitive. The forest is way too confusing for my tastes too.
