There was a ton of information to glean from the final trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it turns out the game’s official website had one more tidbit to share that wasn’t discussed in that trailer.

The official Tears of the Kingdom website shares a quick blurb about how the game kicks off, and we now know where Link will start his adventure.

Link begins his journey on one of the many mysterious floating islands that have suddenly appeared in the skies high above Hyrule. It’s there our hero will have to gain new abilities before returning to the surface world to begin his epic adventure.

The floating islands of Tears of the Kingdom have been at the center of discussion for well over a year, and now we know the action kicks off with Link high above Hyrule. It looks like at least some of these sky islands will act as the new Great Plateau, giving Link a chance to come to grips with his new abilities.

Along with that, we’ve also learned that not only will Link travel around in the Hyrule we saw in Breath of the Wild, he’ll also head deep below ground for another layer of discoveries. This was confirmed by the leaked commercial for the game yesterday, which clearly shows X, Y and Z coordinates for where Link is. It’s the Z coordinate that is most noteworthy, as a snippet of gameplay shows a value of -470, proving that Link is far below Hyrule.

Sky, surface, and underground. Always love a good triad motif, especially in Zelda. Downright mythical. It really feels like the last piece of the puzzle.

This game is going to be twice or three times the size of Breath of the Wild. Can’t wait to explore and re-explore this new changed world.

@neral

Im thinking more like PH-->ST

It will make the original Breath of the Wild look like Phantom Hourglass in comparison as it fleshes out its ideas and storyline

Yep Spirit Tracks was a great game

Ugh, that spoiler without warning was a bummer :-(
Still, I'm stoked with the possibility of it being real, so it's all good, haha!
