The Super Mario Bros. Movie is going far beyond what Nintendo and Illumination expected, and it’s clear nothing is going to stop it from snagging milestone after milestone.

The latest success story for the Super Mario Bros. Movie comes from Mexico, where audiences are rushing to theaters to see Mario and Luigi in action. After just 4 weeks on the silver screen, the Super Mario Bros. Movie has pulled in $1,391 million pesos. That’s obviously an impressive figure, but you might be surprised by just how huge it is.

Securing $1,391 million pesos is enough to make the Super Mario Bros. Movie the third highest-grossing film in Mexico of all-time. That’s not animated film or any other qualifier, it’s for film in general! The only films to bring in more revenue in Mexico are the $1,474 million pesos from Avengers: Endgame and $1,535 million pesos from Spider-Man: No Way Home.

There’s a very real chance The Super Mario Bros. Movie could beat Avengers: Endgame, but can it topple Spider-Man? We’ll have to revisit in a month’s time to see how things play out!
