As you might know, Warner Bros. is the publisher behind the Mortal Kombat series. They’re also the publisher for Hogwarts Legacy, and it appears they feel there’s some crossover promotional potential between the two brands.

Mortal Kombat 11 players have just noticed a change to how menus appear in the game, and you can get a peek at the situation above. As you may have spotted, the top of the menu now includes a banner ad, and in this particular instance, Hogwarts Legacy is being featured.

As you might suspect, a number of players hopped on social media to complain about the ad’s appearance. Some don’t like the fact that they’ve paid full-price for Mortal Kombat 11, yet they are still being served ads. Others don’t want to see ads cluttering up menus. Others still aren’t happy with Hogwarts Legacy being advertised in particular.

As of time of publishing, Warner Bros. hasn’t commented on the backlash or offered an explanation for the ad. If/when they do share a statement, we’ll bring it to you.
