As a Nintendo fan, there are often times when you feel your voice isn’t heard. You wonder if anyone at Nintendo is actually paying attention to the online comments, video diatribes, forum discussions and so on. Well, we now have confirmation that not only is Nintendo watching, but they’re learning from you as well.

In the latest ‘Ask the Developer’ feature for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo’s various devs open up about watching and reading the various things Zelda: Breath of the Wild players have shared. Not only did your thoughts, gameplay videos and discussions help inspire the direction of Tears of the Kingdom, it also lifted Nintendo’s spirits when development got tough.

You can see Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma, Hidemaro Fujibayashi and Satoru Takizawa discuss this at length in the interview snippet below.

Aonuma: There was some talk about them among the development team. The direction of giving players the freedom to do anything in this game came about precisely because of the reactions of people who played the last game. Even though it’s been six years since the last title was released, many fans still post drawings, comments and videos on social media.

Takizawa: Even though it’s been six years since the last title was released, many fans still post drawings, comments and videos on social media. Especially when the team is facing difficulties during development, these things light up the eyes of our staff and make them think, “Alright, let’s show ‘em what we’ve got!” I really want to thank all our fans.

Fujibayashi: I totally agree. Our fans have motivated us so much in the development of this game. Thank you so much!

And people say Nintendo don't listen to their fans...

This was a great little read BTW.

I agree. It is nice to know they've been inspired by their fans.
