The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been an amazing success for Nintendo, breaking records left and right. According to TOHO, the movie has grossed around 742.8 million yen during its fourth weekend in theaters. This is down from last week’s 1 billion yen, but it still means that the total sales have surpassed 9.1 billion yen since the launch of the movie. More than 6.4 million tickets have been sold across Japan.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the highest-grossing film based on a video game in Japan, and it is also the highest-grossing film of 2023.
