Well, it’s news no one wanted to hear, but I guess we all slightly expected it. Nintendo has confirmed that the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been delayed.

In the video above, Eiji Aonuma announces that the title will no longer make it out this year. That said, the delay isn’t that long, as the game’s new release date is Spring 2023. With most of us expecting the game to launch sometime around November of 2022, a push to Spring 2023 stings, but it’s not devastating.

Normally, I’d share Miyamoto’s quote about delayed games right about now, but we just recently learned he never actually said it!

According this link that quote was still found to be on a wall in Nintendo's quarters. So it could have been an important mindset for developers of the company from the start. It could have been important to Miyamoto as well. It was said he was willing to make the big changes he thought were necessary for the game (even in late development) with his famous Miyamoto test: Upending the Tea Table.

Well at least we got a few extra seconds of trailer footage of this sequel today ^-^

I'm not surprised and honestly I don't really care. What we've seen of Breath of the Wild 2 hasn't really impressed or excited me. I hope the time will pay off and I'll be wowed when we see it again.

It's disappointing, but not a complete surprise. I was wondering where they'd fit it in without washing over the other releases. My best to the team.

Now Nintendo, you can release a surprise cool game in the Fall instead!

“Duke Nukem Forever” proves that “A delayed game is eventually good.” statement wrong. Very wrong. LOL

Having said that, this is disappointing but not surprising. It seems that every major Zelda release gets a lengthy delay. I doubt this will release in early 2023…I’m fully expecting it to be pushed again to late 2023 and used as Nintendo’s big holiday release game.

Maybe they can fill the gap by putting Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD on Switch since so many people missed out on those excellent Wii U ports.
