Shin-cfhan is an incredibly long-running series, with the manga kicking off in 1990 and the TV series following in 1992. The TV series is still going strong today, and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down!

While Shin-chan is a name that needs no introduction in Japan, it’s a bit different in North America. The franchise has certainly become more well-known here in recent years, but it has nowhere near the recognition that other big-name anime franchises do. That’s why it was somewhat surprising to learn that Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation was getting a localization.

In an interview with Siliconera, Millennium Kitchen CEO Kaz Ayabe was asked about the localization process for Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation. Turns out the game was planned for a release outside of Japan right from the start!

I think we were talking about releasing the product worldwide from the beginning. Shin-chan is popular outside Japan as well.

Again, that popularity outside of Japan isn’t huge, but it’s growing with each passing year. Hopefully we start seeing Shin-chan on Adult Swim again, and the character gets another big boost in the recognition department.
