Sakurai wonders if anyone will port Kid Icarus: Uprising to console
Do you know something we don't, Sakurai?
The latest video feature from Masahiro Sakurai is all about Kid Icarus: Uprising, one of the few games Sakurai managed to work on between Smash Bros. titles. While the video gives an interesting look at the features of Kid Icarus: Uprising, it’s a line at the end of the video that’s of particular note.
At the very end of the video, Sakurai brings up the idea of a console port of Kid Icarus: Uprising. As you remember, Kid Icarus: Uprising was only every released for the 3DS. While the game was a fantastic experience, the game begged for a chance to shine on a console. This was mostly due to the game’s control scheme, which used a unique touch screen approach on the 3DS, but seemed perfect for a traditional controller.
In particular, Sakurai says it would be nice to play Kid Icarus: Uprising on a home console, and then wonders if there’s anyone out there who would port it. Sakurai is pretty stone-faced during this section of the video, so it’s impossible to tell if it’s an honest question or at tease of something in the works. Let’s keep fingers and toes crossed that this is a sly nod to something in the pipeline!
In my opinion, Kid Icarus Uprising would be perfect with the Wii Remote, but the second best option is the motion controls on the Switch, so I would be happy with a port
Port NOW! Also bring back the shorts.
It would have been great for the Wii U. But that ship has sailed and sank unfortunately.
