Just last week, Nintendo announced that Splatoon 3 would be getting an Expansion Pass with two waves of content. While we have no clue when the second wave will arrive, Nintendo has locked in a release date for Wave 1.

Kids and squids around the globe can look forward to Expansion Pass: Wave 1 arriving in Splatoon 3 on February 28th, 2023. This wave includes the return of Inkopolis, letting you revisit the classic location with all of its quirky shopkeeps and creepy alleyways. Hope to see you soon!

Along with the announcement of Wave 1’s release date, Nintendo also shared a recap on the Squid Sisters. While you probably remember Callie and Marie fondly, it can’t hurt to have a refresher since they’ll be making a return! You can see the duo prepping for their return below.

I don't know, this part of the expansion seems like it should have been a freebie for everyone while the second part is the real expansion. The Squid Sisters performing also seems too limiting since Splatfests come to an end. Hopefully they either continue or you can set that atmosphere.

As it stands now Wave 1 is really lacking unless Nintendo kept a DLC campaign secret to "shadow" drop on us with the release of Wave 1. To me it would have been nice if Nintendo brought back the first Hero Mode from the first game but retooled to use Splatoon 3's weapon kits. It could have been fun to rerun classic levels with new weapons like taking a bow for a spin instead of a charger. Stuff like that.
