Nintendo has purchased a new plot of land
Perhaps their most exciting acquisition yet
In what might be the most shocking gaming company acquisition of the year, Nintendo has purchased a new plot of land next to their headquarters in Kyoto.
According to their website, they’re spending a whopping 5 billion yen, or around $40 million USD. It looks as if they plan on expanding their offices, stating that they’ll be building a “12 floor steel framed building, approximately 72m of height” with the objective of “R&D reinforcement.” It’s not expected to be finished until December 2027.

1+ y agoMaybe they'll use this building to get a dedicated Metroid team...right?

1+ y agoThis is what I want to see more of, cultivate new studios instead of acquiring them, ( I know it's a R&D base that their building however it still falls in line with how I hope to see Nintendo grow). I'm not opposed to acquisitions in general as there are mutual benefits to it however there are too many studios being bought these days.
This will take longer but the benefits are huge.

I hear it’s exclusively to work on a Metroid Other M remake.

It's never going to die, is it?

Stell framing allows for very fast building process… why take so long, until 2027?

Now we can see Nintendo experiment more on their own ip instead of relying a lot on third party developers.

We can't let it die! That one guy in the game specifically asked if we could remember him, so we must keep his memory alive FOREVER!

1+ y agovery happy to see that Nintendo is using it cash resouces to expand it development centres, more development centre means more franchise/games for us to play.
oh no! why not remake Metroid Fusion istead? or better work on Metroid 6.
maybe, with the increasing development cost for Switch games and possibly it sucessor, Nintendo might need to expand Nintendo EPD, now with a Metroid and Donkey Kong team.

I'd like a new DK game. Just as long as it's not like DK64 in terms of collect-a-thon insanity.
