SMTV: Vengeance comes to Switch on June 14th, 2024 and it’s billed as the definitive version of the critically acclaimed Shin Megami Tensei V. This version is massively expanded with a brand-new storyline featuring new locations, demons, and choices to make that will dictate the fate of all existence.

Ahead of the game’s release, the Japanese voice actress for Yoko Hiromine, Chiwa Saito, shared a statement about the character, her work on the game, and her history with the Persona franchise. You can see her statement in full below (translation courtesy of Siliconera).

“Yoko is a girl who seems like she’s accepted and is resigned to her situation, but she’s going through a lot of anxiety in her own way. I performed her lines hoping that I could express her inner thoughts.

I was in a Persona game in the past, so I was happy that they [Atlus] reached out to me again. Personally, I have a bit of a sad memory with Persona. My little brother, who’s six years younger than me, once told me, “Chiwa-chan, you suck so you’re not allowed to play!” while he as playing Persona and didn’t give me the controller lol.

Humans (angels and demons too) are so complicated because depending on how you look at a situation, you can see a lot of different circumstances or forms of justice. The story really made me ponder on that. It’s one that teaches you how important it is to imagine yourself in someone else’s shoes and show them consideration. I hope you enjoy it!”
