Masahiro Sakurai is back with yet another installment in his extensive video series about game development, and today brings us an episode that fits into the “Animation” category.

According to Sakurai, assigning attack collision to an animation as-is doesn’t often work out too well. While this task is generally handled by game designers, Sakurai says he’s focused this video toward animators, too.

Without the right animations and collision detection in a game, movements can feel like they have nothing behind them, leading to a lackluster experience. The right tweaks in animation can give a move the “oomph” it needs to really make an impact on the game and the player.
