The official Dragon Ball site has a monthly series called “Toyotarou Tried to Draw”, and the latest one involves the classic SNES JRPG Chrono Trigger. Toyotarou is the illustrator of the Dragon Ball Super manga, and each month he shares his attempt at illustrating a non-Dragon Ball character on the site’s blog for fun.

This month, his chosen subject was Crono, the protagonist of Square Enix’s beloved Chrono Trigger. Of course, the original designs for Chrono Trigger were done by anime legend Akira Toriyama. Since Toriyama was also behind the designs and art of the original Dragon Ball, Toyotarou has some experience mimicking his style.

About the game, Toyotarou said, “This game features lots of concept art drawn by Akira Toriyama himself, which is just one of the many things I loved about it!”. You can see the final result below:
