Fortnite surprised fans across the world last week where they surprise-announced and released a new mode all within the span of a week. The new Reload mode went live at 2 PM on June 22nd, 2024, and players were very quick to show their interest in the fresh take on Fortnite.

At its highest point, Fortnite Reload saw a whopping 1.6 million concurrent players battling it out. Just like Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, Fortnite Reload offers both traditional and Zero Build options, meaning players can go all-out with nothing but guns, or they can throw building mechanics into the mix as well.

Fortnite Reload features classic weapons and locations while taking place on a tighter map that features familiar locations like Tilted Towers and Retail Row. This new take is a 40-player Squads experience where if eliminated, you can reboot… so long as one member of your four-person team remains. The Storm moves faster in Fortnite Reload and a full team wipe means Game Over.

As of right now, Fortnite Reload remains the most popular mode in Fortnite, beating out the bread-and-butter Battle Royale option. It’ll be interesting to see how the popularity of Reload trends in the weeks and months to come.
