Back during the Wii era, Nintendo eventually started to dip their toes into the indie waters. Those experiments paid off handsomely, and also opened the doors for Nintendo to cement themselves as a supporter of the indie scene. That support has grown with each passing year, and Nintendo has no intentions of stopping.

Nintendo just held their 84th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, and with it came a question and answer session. One of the questions pertained to Nintendo’s support of indie developers, and it’s clear Nintendo feels very strongly about continuing their efforts in that area.

Nintendo has said that they’ll continue creating an environment where it’s easy to develop indie games, and they’ll provide both support and encouragement for teams that want to create games on their platforms. Along with that, Nintendo will continue promoting indie games at various events and share updates in presentations like Indie World showcases.

All in all, Nintendo says they’d like to make their platforms an attractive place for indie development.

UPDATE: We now have the official English translation of Nintendo’s response to this question, and you can read it in full below.
